Role Description The Assistant Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role involves supporting the sales leadership in achieving revenue targets, managing distributor and retailer relationships, and overseeing sales operations within the assigned territory. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring sales performance, coordinating with field sales teams, implementing promotional activities, and ensuring effective merchandising and product availability. The Assistant Sales Manager will prepare sales reports, analyze market trends, track competitor activity, and provide actionable insights to improve market share. The role also requires regular market visits, collaboration with marketing and supply chain teams, and maintaining compliance with company policies and processes.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and business development skills, including experience in FMCG or consumer goods markets.
- Proficiency in relationship management, negotiation, and stakeholder communication with distributors and retailers.
- Ability to analyze sales data, prepare reports, and use insights to drive territory performance.
- Experience coordinating field sales teams and managing on-ground promotional and merchandising activities.
- Good spoken and written communication skills in English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
- Proven ability to work on-site, travel within the territory, and adapt to fast-paced, target-driven environments.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and sales reporting tools.
