As part of our growth, we are currently seeking a Assistant Manager - Business Development & Proposal to join our office in Gurgaon, India.
The Asst. Manager -BD & Proposal leads business development and end-to-end proposal activities for EPC, EPCM, FEED, and technology licensing opportunities across the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors, coordinating technical and commercial teams to develop compliant, competitive proposals and drive order wins.
Functions:
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and manage business opportunities across EPC, EPCM, FEED, and technology licensing projects in the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, EPC contractors, licensors, technology partners, and key industry stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain the business opportunity pipeline, monitor market trends, identify new prospects, and support market expansion across India, APAC, and the Middle East.
- Lead client engagement, presentations, techno-commercial discussions, negotiations, and relationship management throughout the business development cycle.
- Develop opportunity strategies, win themes, value propositions, and competitive positioning to maximize order-winning probability.
- Lead the complete proposal lifecycle from ITB/RFQ receipt through bid evaluation, kick-off, proposal development, review, clarifications, negotiations, and final submission.
- Review customer enquiries to define technical scope, commercial requirements, execution strategy, schedule, risks, and proposal deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including Engineering, Procurement, Estimation, Planning, Contracts, Legal, and Project Management to ensure timely and compliant proposals.
- Prepare and manage technical and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, company standards, and business objectives.
- Evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotations and coordinate technical and commercial bid evaluations.
- Lead customer clarification meetings and techno-commercial discussions during the tendering process and maintain formal bid correspondence.
- Develop and continuously improve BD and proposal processes, templates, databases, and best practices in coordination with Headquarters.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Headquarters to enhance proposal competitiveness, technical differentiation, commercial positioning, and win probability.
- Travel to customer sites, EPC contractors, licensors, technology partners, and end-user facilities as required.
Education / Training/ Qualifications:
- Full-time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Additional training or certifications in proposal management, project management, EPC execution, commercial contracts, or business development will be an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in Business Development, Proposal Management, Bid Management, or related roles within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, Fertilizer, LNG, Hydrogen, or Energy sectors.
- Proven experience managing technical and commercial proposals for FEED, EPC, EPCM, process packages, and technology licensing opportunities.
- Experience in handling process packages, engineered equipment, and packaged systems, including coordination with technology licensors and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead multidisciplinary proposal teams across Engineering, Procurement, Estimation, Planning, Contracts, and Legal functions.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, end users, licensors, and technology partners in business development and tendering activities.
- Experience in client relationship management, opportunity development, techno-commercial discussions, presentations, and negotiations.
- Exposure to fired heaters, incinerators, process packages, rotating equipment, and static equipment will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of EPC project execution methodologies, contracting models, cost structures, and commercial aspects of domestic and international projects.
- Experience supporting proposals for upstream, midstream, downstream, refinery, petrochemical, hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizer, and energy transition projects will be an advantage.
- Experience in coordinating or mentoring cross-functional BD & proposal team members is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of proposal development, bid strategy, pricing methodologies, and commercial proposal preparation for EPC/EPCM/EPCC projects.
- Good understanding of Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, Fertilizer, and Energy Transition processes.
- Ability to interpret and review technical documents including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of EPC contracting models, project execution methodologies, and international project requirements.
- Strong capability in technical and commercial bid evaluation, contract review, commercial risk assessment, value engineering, and proposal coordination.
- Understanding of international commercial practices, Incoterms, contractual terms and conditions, and global project commercial requirements.
