Role Description The Agri cum Gaushala Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Tiruvallur. This role supports day-to-day agricultural activities such as preparing fields, assisting with planting, watering, composting, and basic maintenance of crops and farm infrastructure. The assistant also helps with gaushala (cow shelter) operations, including feeding, watering, cleaning areas, monitoring animal wellbeing, and coordinating with veterinary support when needed. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, handling basic record-keeping related to feed, supplies, and animal health, and coordinating with supervisors to implement sustainable farming and animal care practices. The position requires collaboration with other team members and willingness to support community-focused initiatives aligned with Sevalaya’s values.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of agriculture or farm work, including basic crop care, soil preparation, and use of simple farm tools.
- Experience or strong interest in cattle care and gaushala operations, such as feeding routines, hygiene maintenance, and observing animal health.
- Ability to perform physically active, outdoor work in varied weather conditions and follow safety and cleanliness protocols.
- Basic record-keeping and organizational skills, including tracking supplies, feed usage, and routine activities.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability, with a respectful and compassionate attitude toward animals and community members.
- Willingness to learn sustainable farming practices and follow guidance from supervisors and veterinary professionals.
- Prior experience in agriculture, dairy, or rural development projects is an advantage.
- Local language proficiency and familiarity with the Tiruvallur region are beneficial.
