Role Description The Deputy Head Homes is a full-time, on-site role based in Tiruvallur, responsible for supporting the overall management and effective functioning of Sevalaya’s residential homes. This role includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring the safety, well-being, and holistic development of residents, and coordinating with staff to maintain a nurturing and compliant environment. The Deputy Head Homes will assist in planning and implementing programs, supervising caregiving and support teams, monitoring standards of care, and maintaining accurate records and documentation. The role involves close collaboration with the Head of Homes, other departmental leads, and external stakeholders, as well as regular communication with families, donors, and partners. The position requires proactive problem-solving, adherence to organizational policies and statutory requirements, and continuous improvement of processes and services.
Qualifications
- Experience in residential care management, social work, or community development, preferably in child care, elder care, or similar welfare settings.
- Strong people management skills, including team supervision, staff mentoring, conflict resolution, and the ability to build a positive, inclusive work culture.
- Proficiency in administration and operations, including scheduling, documentation, reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Effective communication skills in English and local languages, with the ability to engage empathetically with residents, staff, families, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing programs, monitoring outcomes, and coordinating with internal departments and partner organizations.
- High level of integrity, empathy, and commitment to Sevalaya’s values of “Love All Serve All,” with a strong passion for social service.
- Relevant academic background such as a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Management, or related fields; additional training in child protection or care-home standards is an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Tiruvallur, with flexibility to respond to operational needs and occasional extended hours when required.
