Role
Account Director
Reporting to
Chief Operating Officer
Type
Full-Time
Location
Worli, Mumbai (Hybrid)
THE KIND OF WORK YOU'LL SHAPE
You'll be building brands in culture, work that moves across digital, on ground activations, creators, content and campaigns.
But this role goes beyond delivering briefs. You'll be a business partner to the brands you work with, understanding what they're trying to solve and bringing together the right people, capabilities and ideas to get them there.
Less about managing scope, more about understanding where the brand needs to go next, and helping it get there.
THE ROLE
As Account Director, you'll own a set of accounts end to end. Your job is to understand the brand, its business, category and ambitions deeply enough to spot problems and opportunities, and turn those into solutions.
You'll connect strategy, creative, production, creators and distribution into work that moves the brand and its business forward.
At Kulfi, success on an account means two things: meeting the client's business and brand outcomes, and running a healthy account here, strong relationships, high performing teams, operational rigour, sustainable growth and a healthy P&L.
You'll need to be equally comfortable with people, ideas and numbers.
WHAT YOU'LL DRIVE
- Own the client relationship and become a genuine business partner, not just the person managing delivery
- Understand the client's business deeply, their objectives, consumers, category, competitors, internal pressures and growth priorities
- Translate business challenges into clear opportunities, briefs and solutions, and define what success looks like for the account
- Own the commercial health of your accounts, P&L, budgets, forecasts, margins, resourcing and growth
- Spot opportunities sitting inside existing accounts and turn them into new mandates, capabilities and larger briefs
- Run complex accounts spanning digital, on ground, creators, content and campaigns, without losing the bigger strategic picture
- Build the right internal and external teams around every challenge, and create the conditions for them to do their best work
- Bring a clear point of view into client conversations, not just updates and timelines
- Contribute meaningfully to pitches, proposals and new business opportunities
- Build workflows and systems that let multiple workstreams run smoothly without adding unnecessary complexity
- Map the brand, category, competition and cultural landscape, so Kulfi can bring opportunities to the table before anyone asks
What Makes This Role Different
This is not traditional account servicing. You're expected to think like a business strategist, relationship leader and account owner, all at once.
- Real ownership of how an account grows, not just how it gets serviced
- Accountability for both client outcomes and Kulfi's business outcomes
- The opportunity to work across disciplines, rather than managing one channel dressed up as many
- A seat at the table where problems are defined, not just where briefs are handed out
- The mandate to build the account, not simply maintain someone else's plan
WHO YOU ARE
- 7 to 10 years of experience in account management, client leadership, brand consulting or adjacent roles
- You naturally think beyond the brief, and want to understand the business problem underneath it
- You have a strong business strategy brain, and can connect brand, consumer, culture and commercial objectives
- You're exceptional at managing relationships across levels, from working teams to founders, CMOs and senior leadership
- You can read a P&L, forecast and budget with the same confidence that you read a strategy or creative brief
- You've managed multidisciplinary accounts across digital, creators, content, production and activations, and made them feel like one coherent plan
- You know how to grow an account by spotting opportunities before anyone asks for them
- You can hold teams to a high bar while creating clarity, trust and ownership, rather than micromanaging
- You have strong commercial judgement, and know when to push, prioritise, invest or say no
- You're comfortable using AI and technology to improve thinking, processes and ways of working
BEFORE YOU APPLY
This role isn't about keeping the trains running on time. It's about understanding where the business needs to go next, why it needs to go there, and how Kulfi can help get it there.
It's a great fit if:
- You've become a genuine strategic partner to the brands you've worked with
- You've grown accounts because you understood the business beyond the immediate brief
- You're as comfortable discussing business outcomes and P&L as you are discussing strategy and creative work
- You know how to build strong client relationships without becoming an order taker
- You can protect the client relationship, the team and the health of the business, all at the same time
