Role Description The Academic Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based at Johnson’s Academy in Bengaluru. This role involves guiding students and families through program selection, helping them understand course structures, learning pathways, and progression options across music, dance, and creative arts. The Academic Counselor conducts one-on-one counseling sessions, supports academic planning, and offers career-oriented guidance related to performing arts education and future opportunities. Daily responsibilities include tracking student progress, coordinating with instructors, addressing academic or engagement concerns, and recommending suitable interventions or support. The role also includes participating in enrollment activities, orientations, and events, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a supportive, student-centered learning environment.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for interacting with students, families, and faculty.
- Candidates should possess Career Counseling skills, particularly related to education and performing arts pathways.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Education systems, learning processes, and curriculum structures.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working with students or learners in academic or training environments; performing arts exposure is an advantage.
- Ability to build trust, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with a diverse student community.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with basic computer and documentation tools.
