Our Client is looking for an experienced, dynamic and hard-core Mechanical Static Design professional to join our Design & Engineering team at the Head Office.The candidate will be responsible for effectively leading the engineering team and contributing to the growth of the company through timely delivery of optimum engineering outputs in line with project and business requirements.
- Key Responsibilities
- Carry out / review / approve design calculations, GADs, fabrication drawings, BOQs, P&IDs, etc. for API 650 / API 620 / ASME tanks, piping and pipelines for tank farm construction and pipeline projects.
- Review and optimise designs in line with the latest standards, codes, safety requirements and cost considerations.
- Ensure drawings released for client / PMC approval are construction-friendly.
- Provide inputs and guidance to engineers and draftsmen for preparation of GADs, fabrication drawings, piping layouts, P&IDs and isometric drawings.
- Liaise with project site execution teams and client PMCs for coordination and updating of engineering activities.
- Resolve design changes and material specification issues during project execution / construction.
- Prepare technical bid packages based on tenders / drawings, including technical specifications, drawings, datasheets, etc.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of the design team comprising engineers and draftsmen.
- Provide relevant technical inputs to the Procurement team for RFQs.
- Liaise with vendors for technical evaluation of offers and ensure procured materials/equipment comply with tender specifications and client requirements.
- Provide technical inputs to the Contracts Manager for variations / claims arising from changes in tender specifications, design or materials.
- Liaise with external design consultants as required.
- Review daily engineering progress across projects and provide alerts to the Project Coordinator / Planning Engineer to avoid execution delays due to non-availability of engineering/fabrication/construction drawings.
- Apply relevant National and International Codes and Standards effectively to develop safe, economical and optimum design solutions, including value engineering.
- Ensure compatibility of materials of construction.
- Ensure project timelines are not delayed due to engineering-related issues.
- Lead, mentor and develop a young team of design engineers and draftsmen.
Desired Qualification & Skill Sets
Bachelor’s Degree / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
15–20+ years of relevant experience in mechanical static design and engineering.
Well versed in the design of above-ground and underground tanks as per API / IS codes.
Strong knowledge of engineering for cross-country pipelines and in-plant / tank terminal piping.
Good knowledge of API 650, API 620, ASME Codes, OISD, IS, ISO and other applicable standards.
Prior experience in design and engineering of API tanks, pipelines, structural works and firefighting systems.
Knowledge of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical (Rotary) and Instrumentation disciplines will be preferred.
