About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer specializing in Linux Kernel Device Driver Development to join our Engineering Group. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining hardware device drivers and modules that are integral to Qualcomm’s cutting-edge products. Your expertise in Linux internals, hardware driver development, and debugging will contribute significantly to the performance and reliability of our embedded systems and platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex hardware-software integration projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Software Engineering.
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the same fields with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or a PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
- Proven experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python, with a strong emphasis on C programming for kernel and driver development.
- Hands-on experience working with hardware drivers/modules, including I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, SDIO, Flash drivers, and DMA.
- Knowledge of Linux OS concepts, Linux internals, and core Board Support Package (BSP) development.
- Familiarity with debugging tools such as JTAG and Lauterbach for hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Understanding of Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) concepts and their application in embedded systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Linux kernel device drivers and modules to support hardware components and peripherals.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to understand hardware specifications and translate them into reliable software solutions.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of device drivers using tools like JTAG and Lauterbach to ensure high performance and stability.
- Maintain and improve core Board Support Packages (BSP) for various hardware platforms.
- Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing sessions to promote best practices within the team.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in Linux kernel and device driver technologies and incorporate relevant advancements into ongoing projects.
- Support integration and validation efforts during product development cycles, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and robustness of software development processes.
