Senior Backend Engineer (Backbase)
Client: Philippines based
Job Type: 6 months renewable contract
Work timings: 6:30 am to 3:30 pm IST
Work Mode: Remote Full time
Role Summary
- A Backend Engineer with a Backbase certification designs, builds, and maintains enterprise-grade digital banking and fintech microservices. Responsibilities include developing server-side logic using Java and Spring Boot, implementing secure banking integrations via REST APIs, and configuring secure communication protocols like TLS, VPNs, and OAuth2.
Job Requirement:
- Core Stack: 5 to 6+ years of professional backend development experience using Java (Java 8+) and Spring Boot.
- Certification: Active official Backbase Certification (mandatory for specialized implementation roles).
- Architecture: Strong grasp of microservices patterns, RESTful services, and SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- DevOps & Cloud: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in banking, financial services, or fintech ecosystems.
Role Overview & Objectives
- Design and implement scalable microservices architecture using the Backbase Engagement Banking Platform.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code for core banking and payment workflows.
- Integrate internal and external third-party banking APIs and legacy financial systems.
- Ensure optimal performance, high availability, and strict security compliance of backend services.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Development: Build back-end components using Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Camel.
- Platform Customization: Configure and extend Backbase-specific APIs, data models, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Security & Compliance: Manage API security standards (OAuth2, OIDC), network whitelisting, VPN tunnels, and certificate management.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams, product owners, and external banking partners to interpret technical specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews, automated unit/integration testing, and CI/CD pipeline deployments.
