Backend Engineer – GCP

Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build an automated GCP-based billing pipeline for the UC-003 Billing Prep use case. The role involves transforming a manual, Excel-based billing process into a scalable, rules-driven and AI-augmented platform integrated with GCP infrastructure and the Impact billing system.
The ideal candidate should have strong backend engineering expertise, hands-on GCP experience, advanced PostgreSQL skills, and prior experience working with financial/billing data or ERP integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop GCP-native rules engines for BIL file processing, PeopleSoft data classification, PO reconciliation and charge-code splitting.
- Develop scalable RESTful microservices using Python or Go and deploy them on Cloud Run.
- Build automated data ingestion pipelines using Cloud Scheduler and Pub/Sub.
- Develop resilient, bidirectional integrations with the Impact billing system.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas on Cloud SQL, including indexing, transactions, audit logging and data versioning.
- Implement batch processing, rollback and reconciliation mechanisms for financial data.
- Establish automated CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build and Artifact Registry.
- Implement structured monitoring, logging, alerting and operational dashboards using Cloud Monitoring.
- Implement security controls using Cloud Armor.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, Tech Leads, business stakeholders and QA teams through UAT and production go-live.
- Contribute to AI/LLM-enabled backend workflows where applicable.

- Experience in areas such as charge reconciliation, accounts payable, billing or financial data processing

- Strong hands-on expertise in Python or Go.
- Worked extensively with Cloud Run, Pub/Sub and Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL.
- Designed rules-based processing or financial automation platforms.
- Integrated backend applications with ERP, billing or financial systems.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, CI/CD, security and observability.
- Experience handling financial transactions, reconciliation and audit-sensitive data.
