SAP EAM Functional Lead – S/4HANA / Utilities

About the Role
Our consulting client is seeking an experienced SAP EAM Functional Lead with strong end-to-end Enterprise Asset Management experience across utilities, field operations, asset management, work management, and SAP S/4HANA environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading SAP EAM implementations and AMS engagements, including integrations with GIS platforms, mobile field applications, scheduling solutions, Project Systems, Finance, and utility transmission and distribution processes. This role will also involve applying generative AI capabilities to improve documentation, testing, knowledge retrieval, and business process efficiency.
Candidates should typically bring 8–15 years of SAP experience, with strong hands-on functional expertise and multiple SAP S/4HANA implementation and AMS projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end functional design of SAP EAM processes to ensure compliant and efficient handling of complex customer and asset scenarios in utilities and similar industries.
- Manage the E2E SAP EAM process and integrations with third-party applications including GIS, ESRI Collector, Workforce, Field Maps, Survey123, and Outage Management System / Schneider ADMS.
- Work extensively with SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM).
- Support and troubleshoot Sync4GEF integrations with third-party applications.
- Work with scheduling platforms including OverIT and Field Service Management (FSM).
- Lead integration of SAP Project Systems with EAM and Finance.
- Support New Construction processes and Engineering functions involving Capital Work, Utilities Transmission and Distribution, Substation Operations, Linear Asset Management, and Compatible Units.
- Coordinate configuration of SAP customer care services to optimize customer interaction flows, billing inquiries, and service requests.
- Drive definition and maintenance of SAP service contracts, including terms, pricing, and lifecycle management.
- Oversee SAP work management processes covering scheduling, execution, and closure of field work orders.
- Manage functional setup of SAP Energy Data Management for metering, interval data processing, and energy settlement activities.
- Guide configuration of SAP Device Management, including installation, replacement, inspection, and decommissioning of meters and field devices.
- Direct integration of SAP Billing components with metering and contract data.
- Apply generative AI capabilities to automate documentation, test case generation, and knowledge retrieval.
- Gather business requirements, conduct fit-gap analysis, and translate business needs into SAP functional specifications.
- Prepare test scenarios, validate results, and coordinate defect resolution.
- Provide functional guidance during cutover and post-go-live support.
- Document functional designs, configuration decisions, and business process flows.
- Mentor project team members on SAP functional capabilities and industry best practices.
Required Skills / What You Bring
- 7+ years of SAP experience, with typical profiles having 8–15 years of experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
- Strong end-to-end EAM process knowledge.
- Multiple SAP S/4HANA implementations and AMS projects.
- Extensive experience with SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM).
- Extensive experience with Sync4GEF, including troubleshooting third-party integrations.
- Strong integration experience with GIS / ESRI Collector, Workforce, Field Maps, Survey123, and Schneider ADMS / Outage Management Systems.
- Experience with scheduling platforms such as OverIT and Field Service Management (FSM).
- Strong knowledge of SAP Project Systems integration with EAM and Finance.
- Experience with New Construction Process and Engineering Capital Work.
- Utilities industry experience involving Transmission and Distribution, Substation Operations, Linear Asset Management, and Compatible Units.
- Functional experience with SAP Work Management, Service Contracts, Energy Data Management, Device Management, and Billing.
- Ability to lead requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, functional specifications, testing, cutover, and post-production support.
- Experience using or applying generative AI techniques for documentation, testing, knowledge retrieval, or business process improvement.
Preferred Certifications
- SAP Utilities Associate Certification.
- Recognized Generative AI or Machine Learning certification from a reputed provider.
