Job Description – Assistant Manager Business Applications

About the Role
We are seeking an IT professional responsible for managing and supporting business applications used across the organization, overseeing business-critical system integrations, and ensuring robust governance, compliance and audit-ready controls to support internal, external, and statutory audit requirements. The role also requires knowledge of Power BI and other data analytics tools to develop, enhance and maintain reports and dashboards as per management requirements. Prior experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365, preferably Finance and Operations or Supply Chain Management, will be an added advantage.
Primary Responsibilities
Applications
- Manage and govern the organization-wide business applications portfolio across functions, stations and departments, ensuring availability, reliability, scalability and continuous improvement of critical business systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for business applications by engaging with business stakeholders, understanding functional requirements, identifying process gaps and converting business needs into robust, scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
- Ensure smooth operation, support and enhancement of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Supply Chain Management and other enterprise applications, including master data, controls, workflows, postings, dimensions and functional configurations.
- Manage finance, supply chain, operations, procurement, inventory, logistics, billing, payroll, banking and other business-critical application touchpoints, including downstream and upstream system dependencies.
- Drive application governance through structured change management, release management, user acceptance testing, access reviews, role-based security, segregation of duties, documentation and approval controls.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation, evidence packs, traceability records, configuration references, exception logs and control validations to support internal, external, statutory and compliance audits.
- Develop, enhance and maintain reports, dashboards and data analytics capabilities using Power BI and other analytics tools to support management reporting, operational visibility, performance tracking and data-driven decision-making.
- Work with business users to validate data, define KPIs, improve report accuracy, automate recurring reporting requirements and strengthen dashboard refresh governance, access control and publishing processes.
- Coordinate with vendors, implementation partners, internal IT teams, business process owners and leadership stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, issue resolution, adoption and measurable business outcomes.
Integration
- Oversee end-to-end integrations across business applications, ERP, operational systems, finance systems, payroll, banking platforms, customer/vendor systems and third-party applications through API, SFTP, file-based, middleware and automated data exchange mechanisms.
- Monitor integration health, job schedules, failures, exceptions, reconciliations, data accuracy and recovery processes to ensure business continuity and minimal operational disruption.
- Own end-to-end coordination across departments, stations, vendors and implementation partners by tracking dependencies, risks, issues, action items, escalations and timelines to ensure successful delivery of business application initiatives.
Key Activities and Areas of Focus
- Manage the organization-wide business applications portfolio across key functions, ensuring system stability, availability, scalability and continuous improvement.
- Act as a Business Applications SME to assess business requirements, identify process gaps and translate needs into secure, scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
- Support and enhance Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O / SCM and other enterprise applications through effective configuration, UAT, release management, incident resolution and post-go-live stabilization.
- Oversee critical integrations across ERP, operational, finance, payroll, banking and third-party systems, ensuring effective monitoring, reconciliation, exception handling and business continuity.
- Maintain strong governance, compliance and audit readiness through structured change controls, access reviews, documentation, evidence management and control validation.
- Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards, management reports and analytics capabilities to improve operational visibility, KPI tracking and data-driven decision-making.
- Coordinate with business teams, stations, vendors, implementation partners and internal IT teams to manage dependencies, risks, issues, escalations and delivery timelines.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline reporting, strengthen application controls, enhance user adoption and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Business Systems or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in IT business applications, ERP, finance systems, enterprise applications or application support.
Technical Skills
- Experience in IT business applications, ERP, finance, billing, operational applications or enterprise application support; ERP implementation experience preferred.
- Functional or techno-functional expertise in ERP platforms, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or Supply Chain Management; exposure to other reputed ERP systems will also be considered.
- Good understanding of business processes across finance, procurement, inventory, supply chain, billing, payroll, banking and operations.
- Experience in application support, requirement analysis, UAT, configuration support, release/change management, incident resolution, RCA and post-go-live stabilization.
- Understanding of enterprise integrations including APIs, SFTP, middleware, file-based interfaces, job monitoring, reconciliation, exception handling and failure resolution.
- Knowledge of Power BI, report builders, dashboarding tools, SQL basics, data validation, KPI definition, data modelling concepts and analytics tools for management reporting and data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of application governance, role-based access control, segregation of duties, audit evidence, SOPs, compliance controls and periodic access reviews.
- Good-to-have exposure to Power Platform, Microsoft Dynamics tools, Electronic Reporting, SSRS, SQL Server, Azure Logic Apps, Azure DevOps, REST APIs and data migration activities.
