The role:
DM – ARFF will play an important role of being a part of BIAL’s world class Airport Fire Service and upholding its certification for CAT 10 Level of protection as per ICAO standards, Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR), AAI Fire Order, Fire manual. JFO shall consistently demonstrate Firemanship behaviors on ARFF Objectives and independently demonstrate and operate Heavy Fire Vehicles and perform Fire Watch Tower duties.
- To perform shift duties as Duty Manager and assume the responsibilities of Duty Manager - ARFF and will be responsible for all day-to-day functions.
- Shall be responsible for the needs of ARFF personnel for Operational, Technical, competency and soft skill development.
- Take control and command of the team placed below for response towards to any untoward situations and aircraft emergencies.
- Carrying out successful training programme which includes but not limited to Rescue and firefighting, soft skill development, ISO Audit Awareness, Medical First Aid, competency development within shifts.
- Ensure regulatory and statutory guidelines and standards are meticulously adhered in airport buildings and premises.
- Ensure effective coordination with other agencies and stake holders for the smooth conduct of all training and familiarization activities of ARFF crew.
- To update and coordinate with Station in charges, Officer-Standard and Compliance if any lapses observed.
- Any other related assigned duties.
The Responsibilities:
- As Duty Manager ARFF, will assume as per the shift time promulgated and is directly responsible to Head-ARFF.
- Assume the duties as overall in-charge of ARFF vehicles and crews of the shift.
- Allot tasks to the personnel in their shift after taking over the shift and ensure that tasks allotted are being carried out effectively.
- Assume the duties of on-scene commander pending the arrival of designated OSC during emergency situations.
- Overall supervision of effective Rescue and Fire Fighting operations in the event of an emergency.
- Ensure proper discipline and efficient working of the shift and make sure that all appliances are in good working condition and manned.
- General routine administration of the shift for effective control of manpower utilization.
- Ensures that daily parade, PT and various drills are conducted at station and supervise the same.
- Maintain Shift-in-Charge logbook of activities and check all station records and deal with manpower deployment and approval of leave.
- Impart training in the shift and carry out performance drills to assess the performance of the crew.
- Check and make sure that staff is properly dressed, well equipped and smartly turned out.
- Ensure daily/weekly and monthly station level cleaning, washing, greasing and oiling of fire vehicles.
- To conduct weekly and monthly scheduled tests of appliances and equipments.
- Periodical assessment of performance of crew.
- Carryout all duties/tasks assigned from time to time by superiors.
The profile:
1. Education Qualification:
- Graduate or equivalent with JFO/ Fire officer’s Course from ICAO recognized institution or FTC Delhi/FSTC Kolkata. GIFireE/MIFireE or CFPS etc. will be preferable.
2. Year of Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as Duty Manager in Airport Fire Service.
- Valid Heavy Driving License and Driving skill is must.
- Willing to work in rotational shifts including night shifts.
- Age between 35 – 40 Yrs.
3. Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge in Computers & MS Office.
4. Knowledge and Work Skills:
- Expert in driving of Heavy motor vehicles & ACFT.
- Integrity, loyalty, candor.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent in delivering lecture.
- Gifted and effective communicator, natural authority, feeling at ease to take on a lead function.
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate in noisy, hazardous, or stressful situations with or without use of equipment.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.
- Ability to communicate with officers, fellow workers, other members of the organization, and the public courteously and tactfully in giving and receiving information.
