Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Open Source Data Engineer / Backend Engineer with 4+ years of experience in designing and building scalable data platforms using ClickHouse and modern open-source technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in high-performance analytical databases, distributed systems, ETL pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and optimize high-performance analytical solutions using ClickHouse.
• Build scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines for batch and real-time workloads.
• Optimize SQL queries, table schemas, indexing, partitioning, and data modeling for large datasets.
• Integrate ClickHouse with Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow, or similar open-source tools.
• Develop REST APIs or microservices using Java, Python, or Go.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database performance for high availability and low latency.
• Collaborate with data engineers, backend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams.
• Automate deployment and infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement data quality, security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Stay up to date with advancements in open-source technologies and distributed database systems.
Required Skills
• 4+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with ClickHouse administration and development.
• Excellent SQL skills and query optimization expertise.
• Experience with one or more programming languages: Java, Python, or Go.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience with Kafka, Spark, Flink, or Airflow.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, data warehousing, and OLAP architectures.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring.
• Experience with Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Apache Hudi.
• Familiarity with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
• Understanding of security best practices for distributed data platforms.
• Experience contributing to or working with open-source projects.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Nice to Have
• Experience with large-scale analytics platforms handling billions of records.
• Knowledge of data lake and lakehouse architectures.
• Open-source community contributions or certifications.
