We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer with hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, and database security. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in managing production databases and ensuring their availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain database environments across development, testing, staging, and production.
- Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and health, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
- Design and manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure high availability and business continuity of critical database systems.
- Manage database upgrades, patches, migrations, and version upgrades.
- Implement and maintain database security, user access controls, authentication, authorization, and auditing.
- Troubleshoot database-related incidents and provide root cause analysis (RCA).
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and engineering teams to support database requirements.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
- Manage database capacity planning and storage optimization.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and database architecture documentation.
- Participate in on-call support and resolve production issues within defined SLAs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, DBA Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with one or more major database technologies such as:
- Oracle
- Microsoft SQL Server
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
- MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Strong knowledge of:
- Database installation and configuration
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Backup and recovery
- High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Database replication and clustering
- Database security and access management
- Experience supporting large-scale and mission-critical production environments.
- Proficiency in SQL and database scripting.
- Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience with database monitoring and management tools.
- Understanding of cloud database services on AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native and managed database services.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications are preferred.
