Backend Engineer – AI Training Project
Location: Remote
Engagement: Contract
Compensation: USD $65–$120/hour
Ufinity Ventures is sharing an opportunity for skilled Backend Engineers to contribute their expertise to an innovative AI training project.
In this role, selected professionals will apply their server-side development expertise to help train and improve next-generation AI systems. The work involves providing high-quality, real-world technical input that helps AI models improve their reasoning and ability to solve backend software engineering problems.
As an expert, you will help create Reinforcement Learning Environments designed to test an AI model's ability to solve backend development challenges, including debugging code, building APIs, and improving data handling and application performance. You will also create reproducible environments and reference solutions for technical problems.
No prior AI experience is required. Strong backend development skills and practical software engineering experience are what matter most.
Scope of Work
- Contribute clear code samples, debugging approaches, and development insights using Python 3, Java, Go, Rust, C++, or TypeScript.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve backend bugs, data-handling issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Build small to medium-sized features, including APIs and database logic, following good software engineering practices.
- Improve existing backend code and database queries for better clarity, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Document technical reasoning, approaches, and coding decisions to support high-quality AI training data.
- Review peer-contributed code and technical submissions for correctness and clarity.
- Create reproducible technical environments and reference solutions for backend engineering problems.
- Communicate technical findings and solutions clearly while working in a remote, project-focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of hands-on development experience in at least one of the following: Python 3, Java, Go, Rust, C++, or TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of API design, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and core data structures.
- Strong ability to debug backend issues, identify root causes, and implement clean solutions.
- Comfortable working across different codebases and quickly becoming familiar with new systems.
- Good technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to clearly explain development decisions.
- Interest in or curiosity about AI and its technical challenges.
- Previous AI experience is not required.
