Role Description The Fashion Designer & Master Tailor is a full-time, on-site role based in Sopore. The role involves designing new collections and custom pieces, sketching concepts, selecting appropriate fabrics, and developing patterns that align with the brand’s aesthetic. Day-to-day tasks include cutting and sewing garments, performing fittings, making alterations, and ensuring impeccable finishing for each piece. The individual will work closely with clients to understand their requirements, provide design recommendations, and maintain clear communication throughout the production process. Additional responsibilities include managing production timelines, maintaining a tidy and organized workspace, and collaborating with other team members to uphold MIRAAS quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in garment design, pattern making, and tailoring, with the ability to execute complex cuts and finishes.
- Proficiency in hand sewing and machine sewing techniques, including experience with a variety of fabrics and embellishments.
- Ability to conduct accurate measurements, fittings, and alterations while maintaining garment structure and comfort.
- Knowledge of current fashion trends, color coordination, and styling principles relevant to both traditional and contemporary wear.
- Attention to detail, strong time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple orders and deadlines.
- Effective communication and client-facing skills, with a professional and respectful approach to diverse customer needs.
- Previous experience as a fashion designer, tailor, or master cutter in a boutique or fashion house environment is preferred.
- Relevant training or certification in fashion design, tailoring, or garment construction is an advantage.
