Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune City for a VP / Database Operations Manager who is hands-on with SQL Server and Oracle and experienced in technical team leadership. The role involves overseeing daily database operations, including monitoring performance, managing capacity, and ensuring high availability and data integrity across SQL Server and Oracle environments. The individual will lead and mentor a technical team, allocate resources, coordinate shift activities (including the Nashville shift coverage), and establish best practices and standards for database administration. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting complex database issues, collaborating with application and infrastructure teams, planning and executing upgrades and migrations, and implementing security, backup, and recovery strategies. The role also requires participation in incident management, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and scalability of mission-critical databases.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and security for SQL Server and Oracle.
- Candidates should possess solid Operations Management capabilities, including shift management, incident handling, process optimization, and service level adherence.
- Candidates should possess experience in Database Design and Data Modeling to support scalable, reliable, and maintainable enterprise applications.
- Candidates should possess broad knowledge of Databases and related tools, including monitoring solutions, automation scripts, and version control practices.
- Proven experience in leading technical teams, mentoring database professionals, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Hands-on expertise with SQL Server and Oracle in large, complex production environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to document processes and decisions clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in financial services, banking, or other highly regulated industries is beneficial.
- Willingness to work on-site in Pune City and align with Nashville shift requirements as needed.
