The US Tax Analyst will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and ensuring the accuracy of US tax returns prepared by associates. The role involves applying in-depth knowledge of US federal and state tax laws, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations, and providing feedback to preparers to maintain high-quality deliverables. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to guide junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review US Individual, Partnership, Corporate, and Trust tax returns for accuracy and compliance with IRS and state regulations.
- Ensure that all returns are prepared in accordance with the latest US tax laws and filing requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, errors, or missing information and provide clear review notes for correction.
- Perform tax research and resolve complex tax issues as required.
- Monitor E-filing processes and ensure timely submission of returns.
- Maintain updated knowledge of US tax laws, IRS guidelines, and changes in compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with tax preparers and provide guidance to improve accuracy and efficiency in tax return preparation.
- Assist in tax planning strategies and advisory tasks, when required.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with company policies regarding client data and documents.
- Support the training and development of junior associates in US tax concepts and return preparation.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA/EA certification (added advantage).
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in US tax preparation and review. Experience with multiple tax software platforms is an advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of US federal and state tax regulations, tax forms (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041, etc.), and filing procedures.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze tax data, identify discrepancies, and provide accurate solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective review notes and client communication.
- Technology Proficiency: Hands-on experience with tax software (Drake, ProSystem, UltraTax, Lacerte, etc.) and MS Office.
- Leadership: Ability to guide and mentor team members, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and deadlines.
- Problem-Solving: Aptitude for handling complex tax scenarios and providing practical solutions.
