About us
Axalon Systems builds drone-based thermal inspection for solar plants. Our drones capture thermal imagery, our AI platform detects faults such as hot spots and failed bypass diodes, and we deliver geo-tagged inspection reports. We are an early-stage startup. You will work directly with the founders and build hardware that flies in the field.
What you will do
- Build, wire, and tune custom multirotor drones: frame, motors, ESCs, flight controller, power system
- Integrate payloads: thermal camera, gimbal, Jetson companion computer, GPS, telemetry radios
- Design and iterate mounts, enclosures, and brackets in CAD, using AI tools to speed up design and scripting
- Use AI tools to research components, datasheets, standards, and failure modes, and turn findings into short, sourced design notes
- Run bench tests, ground tests, and flight tests; analyze flight logs and fix root causes
- Support field deployments at solar sites and help improve our build and pre-flight checklists
What we are looking for
- Pursuing or recently completed a B.Tech or Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, or similar
- Hands-on projects: a drone, robot, or embedded build you can show us
- Comfortable with soldering, a multimeter, and reading schematics and datasheets
- Working knowledge of CAD (Fusion 360 or SolidWorks) and 3D printing
- You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, and similar) daily for research and design, and you verify what they tell you instead of trusting it blindly
- Careful about safety, especially LiPo batteries and propellers
- Willing to do field work and travel to sites
Hardware skills that will set you apart
- PX4 or ArduPilot setup and tuning, MAVLink
- Power systems: battery sizing, PDB/BEC design, voltage-drop and current budgets
- Motor, ESC, and propeller matching; thrust tests and flight-time estimation
- Vibration and EMI troubleshooting: IMU isolation, grounding, shielding, log analysis
- Radiometric thermal cameras: emissivity settings, calibration, lens FOV and ground sampling distance
- Embedded basics: UART, I2C, SPI, CAN debugging; STM32 or Arduino; PCB schematics (KiCad)
- AI-assisted CAD: scripting parts with CadQuery or OpenSCAD, generative design, rapid prototyping
- DGCA drone rules and remote pilot certification (a plus)
What you get
- Ownership of real flight hardware, not busywork
- Day-to-day mentoring from both founders
- Exposure to the full stack: drone, thermal AI, and cloud platform
- Certificate, and a path to a full-time role based on performance
How to apply
- Apply via Linkedin or Email your resume and links to your drone, robotics, or CAD projects to axalonsystems@gmail.com with the subject "UAV Intern Application". Tell us about one thing you built and one thing that broke.
