Lack of safety culture in Iranian civil engineering construction sites result in the deaths of laborers. The purpose and scholarly rationale for the project is to explore transformational leadership perspectives on the safety culture in Iranian civil engineering construction sites. Participants in the study previously worked on civil engineering construction sites in Iran. Findings include the use of traditional safety practices used when constructing regular five to six story buildings. Today’s skyscraper construction sites have over twenty stories and the use of traditional safety practices have led to deaths. Through qualitative analysis, themes were obtained from participant data including the need for improved employee involvement, proactive safety practices, and a culture of continuous development. Participants emphasized the importance of elements such as communication effectiveness and empowerment. Further research is recommended on the perceptions of engineers in regard to health and safety on Iranian civil engineering construction sites.
