Civil/Structural Inspector, Onsite

Position Overview And Job Description
Purpose of Position
This position will be based out of a construction trailer at various construction sites around the US, for anywhere from 6 to 30 months, and upon completion of that job, transitioning to either remote work or to another job site. This position will, on behalf of a project owner, primarily focus on overseeing the civil/structural works (roads, SWPPP, foundations, structures, etc.) on site to monitor all things civil and structural, including applicable contract and technical compliance, owner and IE civil/structural issues coordination with the EPC contractor, and civil/structural aspects of the construction of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Principal Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate civil infrastructure and structural activities at project sites, including those with general contractors, their subcontractors, their vendors, and electrical-related work for renewable energy generation and energy storage projects.
- Oversee construction contractor as an owner’s representative for all civil infrastructure, structural, and equipment foundation/structural construction activities, including the construction of roads and drainage (including SWPPP) works, structural, and foundation aspects of the installation of owner and EPC contractor equipment at the project site.
- Work with the construction manager on site and the project manager to support the civil and structural aspects of subcontracts, project scheduling, change orders, and controlling cost of the project within the approved budget.
- Serve as civil and structural contact with general contractors and subcontractors in the field and communicate effectively and responsibly.
- Responsible for reviewing civil and structural specifications and drawings, executing site civil and structural QA/QC activities, and communicating any civil and structural issues and discrepancies to the appropriate party.
- Participate in the receipt and inspection of equipment and materials as applicable.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining civil and structural project records.
- Work as a team player with effective written and oral communication skills.
- Willing to travel frequently and/or relocate to jobsites in multiple states every 6-12 months.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- 3+ years of experience as a civil and/or structural technician or inspector on heavy industrial construction or operational sites with road and drainage infrastructure and/or structural works, with preference for experience with renewable power plants.
- Project experience must include heavy industry civil and/or structural projects, preferably complex renewable power projects.
- Experience with civil and/or structural aspects of gen-tie line or transmission construction (69 kV to 345 kV) is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of plans and specifications for civil/structural work.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, in addition to problem-solving techniques.
- Conversant with computers and working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and document management systems; e.g. Microsoft SharePoint.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee both union and open shop site electrical works construction.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Embraces the use of technology for fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Comfortable working at heights and able to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes working in scissor lifts, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., meeting the weight requirement of safety gear (310 lbs. or less), and working in PPE such as arc flash suits/facemasks and high voltage gloves for extended periods of time.

Compensation And Benefits
- This is a full-time, salary, exempt position.
- This position will generally be located at a construction site within the United States. When a project is completed, the position could transition to remote support or be relocated to another job site in the US, based on company needs and employee growth.
- Compensation range $80,000-120,000, depending on experience.
