The Role
You will own quality across the entire drawing generation pipeline - from the web UI customers interact with, through the backend services, all the way to the generated drawing outputs. This is a complex, multi-stage system with async workflows, parallel processes, and outputs that need to be rigorously validated against expected results. You'll work closely with engineers and domain experts to ensure correctness end-to-end.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain automated test suites that batch-process hundreds of input files through the pipeline and validate output correctness against expected results.
- Write integration and API tests against our Golang backend services - file upload, job orchestration, drawing retrieval, webhook callbacks.
- Build and maintain end-to-end frontend test suites using Playwright (or similar) covering critical user flows: file upload, job tracking, drawing review, viewer interactions, and account management.
- Test database integrity across RDS (PostgreSQL) - verify that pipeline state transitions, job metadata, and drawing parameters are correctly persisted and queryable.
- Stress-test parallel headless processing instances - 6+ concurrent processes, sustained over hours, monitoring for RPC errors, process hangs, and memory leaks.
- Validate pipeline outputs (3D viewer rendering, 2D drawing artifacts) using a combination of automated checks, golden-file comparisons, and structured acceptance criteria defined with the algorithm team.
- Build regression suites that catch quality regressions in pipeline outputs and frontend behavior across releases.
- Develop metrics and dashboards for pipeline reliability: success rates by input type, processing time distributions, failure categorization.
- Work closely with the algorithm and frontend teams to define and codify acceptance criteria for new features before they ship.
What We're Looking For
- Backend testing experience - 2+ years writing automated tests for Golang services or similar backend stacks. Comfortable with REST API testing, test frameworks (Go's testing package, Testify, or equivalent), and CI/CD integration.
- Frontend test automation - hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools for end-to-end browser testing. Comfortable writing reliable, maintainable tests against modern web apps and integrating them into CI.
- Database testing - experience writing SQL queries to validate data integrity in PostgreSQL/RDS. You've tested state machines, async job queues, or event-driven pipelines where data consistency matters.
- Scripting and automation - proficient in Python or Go for building test harnesses, batch processing scripts, and data validation tools.
- Systems thinking - you can trace a bug from an incorrect output back through the pipeline to the specific stage, service, or database record that caused it. Comfortable working across async, multi-stage systems where failures can originate anywhere.
- Ownership and rigor - you treat quality as a product, not a checklist. You build the tooling, dashboards, and processes needed to keep a complex pipeline trustworthy.
- Fluency with AI coding tools - We want you to do the thinking, but use agents to take care of all the execution
Nice to Have
- Mechanical engineering background (B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent hands-on exposure). Ability to read a 2D engineering drawing and spot errors ,missing dimensions, wrong tolerances, bad section cuts, incorrect GD&T symbols.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) or CAD file formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid).
- Familiarity with manufacturing drawings, ASME Y14.5, or ISO 1101 (GD&T standards).
- Experience validating geometry-heavy or graphical outputs (CAD, 3D viewers, vector drawings, rendered artifacts).
- Visual regression testing experience (Percy, Chromatic, Playwright snapshots).
- Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar message queue testing.
- Windows process management and COM interop debugging.
- Performance testing and profiling tools (k6, Locust, pprof).
