Role Summary
As a Trainer I, you're at the start of your coaching journey with The Quad. You shadow and learn from senior coaches while leading stretching and warm-up sequences and assisting with class modules — becoming fluent in our programming and giving every student a positive, safe experience in our in-person Chennai classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead stretching and warm-up sequences, including a personalised warm-up for late arrivals.
- Assist senior coaches in running class modules and small-group coaching; step in wherever needed.
- Come prepared for every movement with a demo, cues, anticipated questions, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure every student gets at least one meaningful touchpoint each session — no one is overlooked.
- Support special-case students by setting up equipment and following the written class plan.
- Mark and update class attendance accurately and on time.
- Check in with assigned students between and after classes — absences, wins, and feedback.
- Take part in prep meetings, team huddles and debriefs; flag any red flags to senior coaches.
- Arrive 15–30 minutes early to help set up and clear the coaching space and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Higher Secondary (Class 12) completed.
- A recognised S&C certification — NESTA, NSCA CSCS, StrongFirst SFG (L1+), ASCA L1+, NASM CPT/PES, or ACSM CEP.
- Kettlebell coaching proficiency (StrongFirst kettlebell cert or equivalent).
- Current CPR/AED certification (within the last 2 years; hands-on).
- Able to coach the seven Tier 1 movement patterns and progress/regress them safely.
- No prior experience required — a strong willingness to learn and coach to a methodology is essential.
- Clear communication in English and the local vernacular; comfortable with Google Sheets and Zoom.
Preferred / Bonus
- Animal Flow L1+, or specialist certs (barbell, gymnastics-strength, mobility/FRC).
- Experience with rehab / post-op or pre/post-natal populations.
- Comfortable with early-morning coaching slots.
Working Schedule
- Studio-based at The Quad, Chennai (Chennai-based candidates preferred).
- Early-morning class slots — report 15–30 min before class; shift can begin as early as 04:30 AM.
- Some admin/meeting time (~10:00 AM–1:00 PM) and 1–3 studio events per quarter.
Growth Path
Trainer I is the entry rung on The Quad coaching ladder: Trainer I → Trainer II → Senior Trainer I → Senior Trainer II. Tier is confirmed after the interview process.
