Role Description The Testing and Commissioning Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. The role involves planning and executing electrical testing and commissioning activities for power plants, substations, and related equipment, in line with project specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing functional and performance tests, documenting test results, identifying and troubleshooting electrical issues, and coordinating with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of commissioning tasks. The engineer will assist in preparing test procedures, reviewing technical drawings, supporting root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and quality requirements. The role also requires maintaining accurate records, participating in site meetings, and contributing to continuous improvement of testing and commissioning practices.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Electrical Testing and Testing of power systems and equipment.
- Candidates should possess experience as Commissioning Engineers, including planning and executing commissioning activities.
- Candidates should possess competencies in Troubleshooting and Electrical Engineering for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of power generation and substation equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, protection systems).
- Understanding of relevant electrical standards, safety practices, and quality procedures.
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical documentation.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary site teams.
- Willingness to work at project sites, manage field conditions, and adapt to project schedules.
- Prior experience in testing and commissioning within thermal, hydro, or other power plants is an advantage.
