Role Description The TEKLA Senior Modeler (AISC) will be responsible for developing and managing detailed 3D steel models in TEKLA Structures in accordance with AISC standards, including connections, assemblies, and shop drawings for structural steel projects. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering and architectural drawings, coordinating with design and project teams, preparing and checking fabrication and erection drawings, and ensuring models are accurate, clash-free, and aligned with project specifications and codes. The role involves reviewing junior modelers’ work, implementing best practices for modeling and detailing, and supporting project timelines through efficient documentation and revision control. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai, requiring close collaboration with engineering, detailing, and fabrication stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in TEKLA Structures for steel modeling and detailing, including experience with AISC standards and codes.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting structural and architectural drawings, with solid understanding of steel connections, fabrication practices, and erection requirements.
- Experience overseeing or mentoring junior modelers and detailers, with the ability to perform thorough checks and ensure quality and consistency in deliverables.
- Familiarity with related detailing tools, BIM workflows, and coordination practices with engineering, drafting, and MEP teams.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams and meet schedule and quality targets.
- Relevant diploma or degree in civil/structural engineering or a related field; prior experience in structural steel detailing for industrial or commercial projects is highly preferred.
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement in modeling processes; exposure to international standards and multi-disciplinary projects is an advantage.
