Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects independently from design through detail engineering.
- Act as the primary technical interface with customers and participate in project coordination meetings.
- Plan, monitor, and execute engineering activities within agreed schedules and project milestones.
- Execute/ Review structural designs, detailed drawings, engineering calculations, and technical specifications.
- Guide structural designers and detailers to ensure compliance with project requirements, constructability, and fabrication standards.
- Coordinate technical queries from clients, approval authorities, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, client specifications, and quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to the structural engineering team.
Technical Responsibilities
Design, analyse, and review industrial steel structures, including:
- Equipment support structures
- Exhaust stack support structures
- Skid and module base frames
- Pipe racks
- Pipe and duct supports
- Access platforms and walkways
- Crane pedestals and hoist structures
- Stair towers
- Steel connection design and member sizing
Structural Analysis & Engineering Expertise
Experience in performing:
- Steel structural analysis and design
- Lifting lug and pad-eye design
- Spreader frame and spreader bar design
- In-place lifting analysis
- Transportation and transit load analysis
- Vessel impact and collision analysis
- Seismic analysis
- Bolted and welded steel connection design
- Node, joint, and local finite element (FEM) analysis
- Vessel, bin, hopper, and barge deck strength checks
- Buckling analysis of shell and plated structures
- Weight estimation and centre of gravity calculations
- Material Take-Off (MTO)
Codes & Standards
Working knowledge of international structural design standards such as:
- American Codes (AISC, ASCE, AWS)
- Canadian Standards
- Eurocodes
- British Standards (BS)
- Norsk Standards (DNV/NORSOK)
Software Skills
Proficiency in:
- STAAD.Pro
- RISA-3D
- RAM Connection
- AutoCAD
Preferred:
- ANSYS (Finite Element Analysis)
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and structural engineering fundamentals
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective client communication and presentation skills
- Project planning and execution capabilities
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong coordination and mentoring skills
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university.
Experience
- 12–15 years of experience in Industrial Steel Structural Design Engineering.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Oil & Gas
- Power Plants
- Mining
- Petrochemicals
- Refineries
- Chemical Plants
