Position Details
Position Title: Senior Engineer – Supplier Development & Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA)
Department: Purchase / Supplier Development
Reporting To: Divisional Manager – Purchase
Role Description
Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Engineer – Supplier Development & Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) will be responsible for developing and managing suppliers to achieve excellence in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development, and Compliance (QCDC). The role involves supplier development, supplier quality assurance, new product development support, supplier audits, performance monitoring, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the overall supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Development
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers based on business requirements.
- Assess supplier manufacturing capabilities, technical competency, production capacity, and quality systems.
- Drive supplier capability enhancement and continuous improvement programs.
- Support supplier localization and capacity expansion projects.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments and development activities.
New Product Development (NPD)
- Coordinate supplier activities during new product development.
- Ensure APQP implementation at supplier locations.
- Review and approve PPAP submissions.
- Monitor tooling development, trial activities, and production readiness.
- Ensure suppliers achieve SOP readiness within project timelines.
- Conduct design reviews and manufacturability discussions with suppliers.
Current Production Supplier Quality
- Monitor supplier quality performance for mass production components.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions for supplier quality issues.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and other quality tools.
- Support Incoming Quality and Production teams in resolving supplier-related concerns.
- Ensure implementation and verification of permanent corrective actions.
Supplier Audits
- Conduct Process Audits to verify compliance with Control Plans, SOPs, and Manufacturing Standards.
- Perform Quality System Audits against IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct Capacity Audits, Risk Audits, and Special Audits.
- Verify effectiveness and closure of corrective actions from previous audits.
Supplier Performance Management
- Monitor supplier KPIs including:
- Supplier PPM
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Cost Performance
- Customer Complaints
- Audit Scores
- Development Activity Status
- Prepare Monthly Supplier Scorecards.
- Conduct Supplier Performance Review Meetings.
- Escalate critical supplier issues to management.
- Develop supplier improvement roadmaps.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure supplier compliance with statutory regulations, environmental requirements, labour laws, ESG guidelines, and sustainability standards.
- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Evaluate supplier business continuity and contingency preparedness.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Supplier Kaizen and Cost Reduction initiatives.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing practices across suppliers.
- Support VA/VE projects.
- Drive productivity, quality, and process improvement initiatives at supplier locations.

Education
Essential Qualification:
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Automobile, Production Engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualification:
Certification in IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Supplier Quality Management will be an added advantage.
Certifications (if any):

Additional Requirements
- Experience in Automotive Manufacturing is Mandatory.
- Hands-on experience in Supplier Development and Supplier Quality Assurance.
- Strong knowledge of Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
- Experience in conducting Supplier Process and System Audits.
- Exposure to Injection Molding, Rubber Components, Metal Stamping, Electronics Components, or Automotive Interior/Exterior Parts will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SAP/ERP systems and advanced MS Excel.
- Ability to drive supplier improvement, localization, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Willingness to travel extensively to supplier locations.
