About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Precast Detailer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will lead the 3D modeling, production drawings, and erection layout preparation for large-scale precast concrete structures across the US and Canadian markets.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience using Tekla Structures, a deep understanding of PCI / CPCI standards, and a proven track record of successfully delivering commercial, industrial, and parking structure projects in North America.
Key Responsibilities- 3D Modeling & Detailing: Create highly accurate 3D Tekla models for precast concrete components (insulated wall panels, hollow-core slabs, double tees, columns, beams, stairs, and spandrels).
- Drawing Generation: Produce comprehensive Erection Drawings (GA drawings), Piece/Production Drawings, and Hardware/Connection Details strictly adhering to US/Canadian project specs.
- Standards & Codes Compliance: Ensure all models and drawings strictly follow PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute), CPCI (Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute), ACI, and local building codes.
- Coordination & RFI Management: Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify discrepancies. Draft, submit, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) independently.
- Connection & Hardware Detailing: Detail structural embedded plates, lifting anchors, connection hardware, and post-tensioning/pre-stressing strands.
- Quality Control & Checking: Perform thorough self-checks and peer reviews on models and production drawings prior to client submission.
- Client & Vendor Interaction: Coordinate with US/Canadian precasters, structural engineers of record (EOR), general contractors, and project managers to ensure smooth execution and submittal approval schedules.
Requirements & Qualifications- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering, Architecture, or relevant technical field.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on precast concrete detailing experience specifically for US and Canadian commercial/industrial projects.
- Software Proficiency:
- Tekla Structures (Advanced proficiency in precast components, custom components, and template editor is required).
- AutoCAD (Proficient for 2D layout and detail editing).
- Bluebeam Revu, Trimble Connect, or BIM 360 experience is a plus.
- Codes & Industry Standards: In-depth knowledge of PCI, CPCI, ACI 318, and US imperial/Canadian metric drawing standards.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of precast manufacturing processes, shipping constraints, erection logistics, and connection details (welded, bolted, grouted sleeve connections).
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication skills to interact directly with North American clients and engineers.
