Role Description The Steel Structural Draftsman role is a full-time, on-site position based in Delhi, India. The person in this role will prepare detailed steel structural drawings for offshore and marine projects using industry-standard CAD and engineering software. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering calculations and specifications, creating general arrangement and fabrication drawings, and ensuring drawings comply with relevant standards and client requirements. The role involves close coordination with structural engineers and project teams to resolve design issues, update drawings based on review comments, and maintain drawing registers and documentation. The draftsman will also assist in preparing material take-offs, support design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting practices and templates.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in structural drafting and modeling using tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other relevant CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for steel structures.
- Experience preparing fabrication, erection, and general arrangement drawings for offshore, marine, or industrial projects.
- Understanding of steel design standards, tolerances, welding symbols, and detailing practices.
- Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering or Drafting, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Prior experience in offshore, oil and gas, or marine engineering environments is an advantage.
