Description
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Staff QA Engineer to drive quality for our GigaSMART AppIntel features. In this role, you will define test strategies, lead complex validation efforts, and build robust automation to ensure highly reliable, high-performance application intelligence capabilities. You will collaborate closely with Agile development teams, Technical Publications, support, and field teams to address customer scenarios and escalations. Your expertise in networking protocols, test design, and automation will directly strengthen the quality of Gigamon’s advanced traffic intelligence solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Understand feature requirements and define comprehensive test strategies and plans for GigaSMART AppIntel functionality.
- Design, create, execute, and review manual and automated test cases and test suites across L2–L7 networking scenarios.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and frameworks primarily using Python to drive scalable, reliable regression coverage.
- Participate as an integral member of an Agile team, helping the team meet quality goals and release criteria.
- Review product documentation and provide clear, actionable feedback to Technical Publications.
- Handle field escalations by working with support and development teams to troubleshoot, reproduce, and analyze customer-reported issues.
- Learn from customer bugs to identify and close test coverage gaps, improving overall product robustness.
- Own defect lifecycle activities including bug creation, reproduction, triage support, and daily status management.
- Act as a test project lead when required, planning QA activities, tracking progress, and reporting quality status.
- Mentor junior QA engineers in QA processes, networking concepts, and automation best practices.
What You’ve Done
- Accumulated 12+ years of hands-on QA testing experience in networking or related domains.
- Designed, implemented, executed, and reviewed manual and automated test cases and test suites.
- Gained strong hands-on experience in test automation using Python (mandatory) for functional, regression, and/or system testing.
- Worked with test case management tools such as Mercury Quality Center, TestLink, or similar platforms.
- Built solid working knowledge of TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, and L4–L7 protocols, with strong network configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Used packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark and SnifferPro to read and interpret network traffic.
- Utilized network testing equipment such as IXIA and Spirent for performance, scalability, and interoperability testing.
- Used bug tracking systems such as Bugzilla, Jira, or similar tools to manage defects and workflows.
- Applied scripting skills beyond Python (e.g., TCL, Perl, Expect) as an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience as a project or test lead, driving QA deliverables and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
