Job Title: Mainframe Modernization Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Engineer to work closely with our modernization team on transforming legacy mainframe applications. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in COBOL and CICS, along with a good understanding of the mainframe ecosystem, to analyze legacy code, understand business logic, troubleshoot transformation issues, and validate modernized applications.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze legacy mainframe applications to understand program logic, business rules, application flows, and dependencies.
Work closely with the modernization team to support application transformation using CloudFrame tools and help investigate code conversion issues.
Perform hands-on code analysis, debugging, and functional validation to ensure equivalence between legacy and modernized applications.
Collaborate with modernization engineers and customer technical teams to resolve challenges and support successful project delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
12+ years of total IT experience, including at least 10 years of hands-on mainframe experience.
Strong hands-on experience in CICS application development, transaction processing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
Strong working knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, GDGs, and mainframe batch processing.
Ability to analyze complex legacy mainframe code, understand business logic and application dependencies, and support modernization activities.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work hands-on within a modernization team.
Good-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of Java and Java application architecture.
Familiarity with IBM Mainframe Assembler.
Exposure to mainframe modernization tools and automated code conversion.
