About the jobRole Overview
The Senior Boomi Developer owns solution and process design within client integration programs while staying hands-on with the platform's most technically demanding build work. This role turns architecture-level direction into detailed, buildable designs, and personally builds complex Boomi processes and Data Hub solutions. Working closely with Solution Architects, client stakeholders, and junior developers, the Senior Boomi Developer ensures integrations are robust, reusable, and delivered to a consistent standard across the squad.
Key Responsibilities
Solution & Process Design
- Own the detailed design of Boomi integration processes and Data Hub configurations, working from the Architect's Solution Architecture and Platform Handbook direction
- Translate discovery and requirements outputs into concrete process designs, connector configurations, and data model mappings
- Make and document design trade-offs (e.g. synchronous vs asynchronous patterns, error-handling approach, reuse vs bespoke build) and justify them against client requirements
- Contribute to Best Practices Handbooks, naming conventions, and canonical and reusable framework design
- Represent technical feasibility and implementation impact in design reviews and break-out sessions
Hands-On Development
- Build and configure Boomi processes end-to-end, including connectors, process shapes, maps, decision and branching logic, and sub-processes, in line with Boomi best practice
- Develop custom Groovy/JavaScript scripting for advanced transformation, caching, and error handling where standard shapes are insufficient
- Personally build Extended and Guided complexity interfaces, including nested sub-processes, event-driven architectures, and multi-system synchronisation
- Build and maintain reusable framework components (error handling, logging, auditing, orchestration) as production-ready shared sub-processes
- Use Boomi Companion and other AI tools to accelerate development and documentation
Platform Configuration & DevOps
- Configure and troubleshoot Boomi API Gateway components where in scope, including clustering, authentication, and firewall/connectivity requirements
- Configure and troubleshoot Boomi Event Streams connectors and environments, including connectivity testing between runtimes and the broker
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipeline configuration for your build work, including source control structure and automated package and deployment actions
Data Hub Design & Implementation
- Design and implement Data Hub repository structures, clustering, and synchronisation approach in line with architecture direction
- Design golden record models, including entity and model definitions, source system contribution rules, and field-level survivorship logic
- Configure deterministic and fuzzy match rules to identify and merge duplicate records across source systems
- Configure data quality rules and validation logic to enforce completeness, format, and consistency standards
Quality Assurance & Delivery Enablement
- Perform thorough unit and runtime testing of your own builds, including Data Hub connectivity, authentication, and synchronisation checks
- Triage and resolve complex defects raised during integration testing and UAT that junior developers cannot resolve independently
- Guide and mentor junior developers through implementation, and oversee their output on larger projects
Skills and Experience
Essential
- [6+] years' experience in integration development, including [4+] years hands-on with the Boomi platform in a senior or lead developer capacity
- Consulting or client-facing delivery experience across multiple integration programs
- Strong technical breadth across Boomi process design and build, Data Hub (golden records, match rules, data quality), Groovy/JavaScript scripting, and CI/CD with source control
- Clear communicator who can explain design trade-offs to architects, clients, and delivery teams
Desirable
- Exposure to [higher education, government, or other regulated] environments
- Boomi Professional Developer or Architect certification, and familiarity with Boomi API Gateway / API Management, Boomi Event Streams, Microsoft Azure, or Databricks
- Exposure to data governance and master data standards, and to AI-assisted development tools in an integration context
