1. Position Overview
The Civil Engineer – Industrial Projects, PEB & Civil Maintenance will be responsible for the planning, estimation,
coordination, execution, quality control, billing, and timely completion of civil and pre-engineered building (PEB) projects
across the company’s manufacturing facilities. The role covers new construction, brownfield expansion, structural and
PEB works, factory flooring, drainage, roads, utility foundations, warehouses, production areas, offices, and ongoing civil maintenance.
2. Key Role Objectives
• Deliver industrial civil and PEB projects within approved scope, budget, quality, and schedule.
• Maintain strict control over BOQ quantities, measurements, contractor billing, variations, and project cost.
• Ensure strong site quality, safety, documentation, and coordination with production and engineering teams.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Industrial Civil Project Planning & Execution
• Plan and execute greenfield, brownfield, expansion, renovation, and repair projects for factories, warehouses, utility buildings, offices, roads, yards, drains, and supporting infrastructure.
• Review architectural, structural, civil, service, and layout drawings before execution and identify design conflicts or
missing information.
• Prepare project execution plans, activity schedules, manpower requirements, material plans, and daily/weekly work targets.
• Supervise excavation, PCC, RCC, reinforcement, shuttering, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, roofing, painting, plumbing, drainage, road, and external development works.
• Coordinate civil works with machinery foundations, process lines, utilities, electrical services, fire systems, HVAC, plumbing, and production requirements.
B. PEB Building & Structural Steel Works
• Coordinate with PEB designers and vendors for general arrangement drawings, design inputs, load parameters,
column locations, clear heights, crane loads, wind loads, seismic requirements, and service integration.
• Review PEB fabrication and erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, base plates, columns, rafters, purlins, bracings,
roofing, cladding, gutters, downpipes, insulation, and accessories.
• Supervise anchor bolt setting, structural erection, alignment, levelling, bolt tightening/torqueing, welding, roof and
wall sheeting, flashing, sealants, and rainwater systems.
• Check material certificates, steel grades, fasteners, welding consumables, coating/paint systems, sheet thickness,
insulation specifications, and approved makes.
• Ensure erection activities follow approved method statements, lifting plans, work-at-height controls, and safe sequencing.
C. BOQ, Estimation, Tendering & Cost Control
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, rate analyses, scope documents, and technical
specifications for civil and PEB works.
• Invite and technically compare contractor/vendor quotations and highlight exclusions, deviations, commercial risks, and scope gaps.
• Verify material consumption, site measurements, running account bills, final bills, retention, deductions, and variation claims.

D. Quality Assurance, Quality Control & Testing
• Prepare and implement inspection and test plans, checklists, method statements, material approval records, and stage-wise quality controls.
• Verify reinforcement diameter and spacing, cover, laps, shuttering, line/level, concrete grades, mix designs, slump tests, cube tests, curing, and dimensional tolerances.
• Inspect masonry, plaster, waterproofing, industrial flooring, epoxy/PU coatings, tiles/granite, drainage slopes, joints,
and finishing quality.
• Check structural steel fabrication, welding quality, dimensional accuracy, bolt grades, torque records, surface
preparation, paint thickness, and corrosion protection.
• Coordinate third-party testing, laboratory testing, NDT, and consultant inspections wherever required.
E. Civil Maintenance & Factory Infrastructure
• Inspect factory buildings and identify cracks, settlement, seepage, roof leakage, damaged flooring, drainage problems, corrosion, unsafe structures, and recurring maintenance issues.
• Plan preventive and corrective maintenance for roofs, walls, floors, drains, roads, utility foundations, sanitary facilities, tanks, and external development.
• Execute food-industry-compatible civil works with focus on hygiene, washable surfaces, proper drainage, pest-proofing, safe access, and minimal contamination risk.
F. Contractor, Vendor & Consultant Management
• Evaluate civil contractors, PEB vendors, architects, structural consultants, testing agencies, and material suppliers
based on technical capability, quality, manpower, safety, and past performance.
• Issue clear scopes of work, drawings, specifications, quality requirements, timelines, measurement methods, and
handover obligations.
• Conduct site meetings, allocate priorities, review progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure adequate
deployment of manpower, tools, and equipment.
G. Safety, Statutory Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable IS codes, National Building Code requirements, approved drawings, factory
safety rules, and local statutory requirements.
• Implement permit-to-work, excavation safety, work-at-height controls, scaffolding inspection, lifting safety, electrical
safety, barricading, housekeeping, and PPE compliance.
• Maintain drawings, approvals, BOQs, work orders, measurement sheets, test reports, daily progress reports, photographs, minutes of meetings, as-built drawings, and completion records.
• Prepare concise management reports covering progress, cost, quality, safety, risks, delays, decisions required, and recovery actions.
H. Continuous Improvement & Value Engineering
• Recommend practical value-engineering solutions without compromising safety, durability, hygiene, or functional requirements.
4. Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
• B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university is preferred.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering may be considered for candidates with strong hands-on industrial civil and PEB experience, preferably 8–10 years.
• Additional certification in Auto CAD, quantity surveying, project planning, construction safety, or project management will be an advantage.
Professional Experience
• Candidates with 8–10 years of relevant experience in food processing, FMCG, industrial manufacturing, civil construction, PEB, warehouses, or factory infrastructure are preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in handling contractors, BOQ, billing, measurements, civil quality checks, project schedules, and site documentation is essential.
5. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of RCC, structural steel, PEB systems, masonry, waterproofing, industrial flooring, drainage, roads, roofing, and building maintenance.
• Ability to read and review architectural, civil, structural, PEB, utility, and services drawings.
• Proficiency in quantity estimation, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, tender comparison, measurement, contractor billing, and cost control.
• Working knowledge of Auto CAD; familiarity with MS Project/ Primavera, Excel, ERP systems, and drawing/document control is preferred.
