🚨 Hiring: SQL Database Architect | Enterprise Database Operations | Pune
Location: Pune
Working Hours: 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM IST
Nashville-aligned: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Nashville time
Work Environment: Global / Enterprise Technology Operations
On-Call: Required for critical incidents
About the Role
We are looking for a SQL Database Architect to join a global DBMS Operations environment supporting mission-critical enterprise database platforms.
This is not a conventional DBA role.
The position combines deep SQL Server expertise, database architecture, enterprise operations, performance engineering, automation, high availability, cloud modernization and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support enterprise-scale database platforms
• Drive SQL Server high availability, resilience and disaster recovery
• Lead database performance tuning, capacity planning and optimization
• Develop DBA automation using PowerShell and T-SQL
• Drive backup, monitoring, alerting and operational reliability
• Support Azure IaaS/PaaS database modernization
• Lead complex database upgrades and migrations
• Work across SQL Server, Oracle and PostgreSQL environments
• Partner with application, infrastructure and engineering teams
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to DBAs
• Diagnose and resolve complex production database issues
What We're Looking For
✅ 8+ years of progressive Database Administration / Engineering experience
✅ 3+ years of technical leadership / team leadership experience
✅ Deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise
✅ AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering and Log Shipping
✅ Advanced T-SQL and PowerShell
✅ SQL Agent / Control-M automation
✅ Performance tuning, indexing and query optimization
✅ Enterprise HA/DR, backup and recovery
✅ Azure IaaS/PaaS database experience
✅ Exposure to Oracle and PostgreSQL
✅ Enterprise monitoring / observability experience
✅ Experience leading or mentoring DBA teams
✅ Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

“I automate DBA operations rather than relying on manual administration.”
“I troubleshoot database performance using evidence such as wait statistics, blocking, CPU, memory and I/O.”
“I have managed production HA/DR, backup and recovery for mission-critical databases.”
“I have led database upgrades or migrations with proper testing and rollback planning.”
The role specifically requires strong operational discipline around capacity, backups, automation, performance diagnostics and production migrations.
