Job details:
About the role: Aleph Digital Technologies builds AI-native software for process industries: chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy and water. Our platform lets process engineers analyse plant data, digitise engineering drawings, build and run simulations, and deploy monitoring pipelines, all through natural language.
We are an early-stage engineering team. You will work across both frontend and backend from your first week, alongside the engineers who built the platform. Expect direct and frequent feedback, and real ownership of your work early on.
This is a junior, full-stack role on our FastAPI backend and Next.js / TypeScript frontend, with a path into our LangChain and LangGraph agent stack as you build context.
Working arrangement
- Remote, based in India. Engaged and paid locally through an employer-of-record arrangement.
- At least five hours of daily overlap with Singapore business hours (SGT, UTC+8: India is 2.5 hours behind).
Responsibilities
- Translate scoped requirements into production-ready features across our FastAPI backend and Next.js / TypeScript frontend.
- Build responsive UI components and pages using Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind and shadcn/ui, and manage client-side data fetching with SWR.
- Start with bug fixes and service maintenance, progressing to larger delivery as you build context in the codebase.
- Implement role-based access control across the platform, against an access-control specification owned by our senior engineers.
- Implement the audit trail for privileged actions to a defined specification: building and consuming internal APIs, optimising for correctness, performance and security.
- Use AI coding assistants throughout the development lifecycle: scaffolding, code generation, test writing, code review: while retaining full ownership of the correctness and security of what ships.
- Critically review and validate AI-generated code rather than accepting it at face value, catching issues in logic or security that automated generation can introduce.
- Contribute to implementation trade-offs and edge-case decisions within an architecture that has already been validated.
- Develop, maintain and optimise the services and integrations that power the platform.
- Take on work in our LangChain / LangGraph agent stack as you build experience with the codebase and our practices.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Solid full-stack fundamentals: hands-on backend experience (Python and FastAPI a strong plus) and real frontend experience with React / Next.js and TypeScript.
- Comfortable debugging across the stack, from a UI symptom, through an API call, to the data layer.
- Regularly uses AI coding assistants as part of your own development workflow, and can describe a time you caught one producing wrong or unsafe code.
- Able to move from a rough idea to a working feature without a perfect spec, while flagging risks and edge cases along the way.
- Clear, direct communicator, comfortable working closely with a small team.
- Familiar with Git workflows and the software development lifecycle.
Preferred qualifications
- Practical exposure to LLM application development: LangChain, LangGraph, prompt engineering, or building and consuming AI-assisted features.
- Exposure to authentication and authorisation systems (RBAC, OAuth / OIDC, audit logging), including through coursework or a side project.
- Knowledge of Azure-based authentication (Entra ID).
- Familiarity with workflow and orchestration tools such as Prefect, Airflow or Temporal.
- Interest in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, water, or other industrial and regulated-data domains.
This role is not for
- Engineers who want to work on only one layer of the stack:frontend only, or backend only.
- People who need a complete, locked specification before they can start.
- Developers who ship a feature and disengage from what happens to it after launch.
- Candidates who are not comfortable using AI coding tools as a normal part of daily work.
What to include in your application
- A link to your GitHub, or an equivalent public portfolio (add to your CV).
- Links to two or three projects you have built, school, personal or work, each with a one-line note on which parts were yours (add to your CV).
- Public HackerRank, LeetCode, Codeforces or similar profiles, if you have them.
Hiring Process
- Technical Round: Screening call and technical interview
- Team Fit: Casual conversation and cultural alignment
