Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer with strong experience in test automation and hands-on knowledge of telecom products and networks. The successful candidate will design and execute comprehensive functional, integration, system, and regression tests for IPX products such as IP Transit, IP Peering, EVPN, MPLS, and Business Connect.
This role requires someone who can work closely with Product Owners, developers, architects, and network specialists to convert product requirements into effective test cases and scalable automated test journeys. The ideal candidate will also use AI and modern testing practices to improve test coverage, speed, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse product requirements, user stories, service specifications, and acceptance criteria for telecom/IPX solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to clarify business behaviour, identify edge cases, and draft detailed functional test cases.
- Design and execute functional, integration, end-to-end, system, regression, smoke, negative, and exploratory tests.
- Develop and maintain automated tests using tools such as Playwright, Robot Framework, and other modern automation technologies.
- Build reusable test frameworks, libraries, test data, and utilities for UI, API, workflow, and network-service validation.
- Test complete customer journeys across products such as IP Transit, IP Peering, EVPN, MPLS, and Business Connect.
- Think beyond happy-path scenarios and identify failure conditions involving routing, resiliency, redundancy, failover, service activation, configuration consistency, and operational recovery.
- Validate APIs, service orders, workflow orchestration, network configurations, events, callbacks, and integrations with downstream systems.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support quality gates for reliable product releases.
- Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, document defects clearly, and work with development teams through resolution.
- Use AI-assisted testing techniques to generate test scenarios, identify coverage gaps, create automation code, analyse failures, and accelerate test maintenance.
- Contribute to test strategy, quality metrics, risk assessment, release readiness, and continuous improvement of the QA process.
Required Skills And Experience
- Significant experience as a Test Engineer, Senior QA Engineer, or Automation Test Engineer in telecom or network-focused projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with test automation using Playwright, Robot Framework, Selenium, Cypress, or comparable tools.
- Good knowledge of modern automation practices, including reusable frameworks, Page Object or Screenplay patterns, API automation, test data management, parallel execution, and reporting.
- Practical experience testing web applications, REST APIs, asynchronous workflows, event-driven integrations, and distributed systems.
- Functional understanding of telecom/IP networking products and concepts, including:
- IP Transit and IP Peering
- EVPN and MPLS
- Business Connect and enterprise connectivity services
- L2 and L3 VPN services
- Routing, BGP, VLANs, interfaces, redundancy, resiliency, and failover
- Ability to translate telecom business requirements into clear, traceable, and risk-based test scenarios.
- Experience working with Product Owners and cross-functional engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
- Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Strong defect analysis, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools or AI-assisted techniques to improve testing, automation development, test design, or failure analysis.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with network automation, service orchestration, OSS/BSS, TM Forum APIs, or telecom fulfillment systems.
- Experience testing cloud-native or microservices-based applications deployed on Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Knowledge of Kafka or other event-streaming platforms and asynchronous service validation.
- Experience with API tools such as Postman, Bruno, REST Assured, or similar tools.
- Exposure to Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or another programming language used for test automation.
- Familiarity with network test tools, virtual routers, traffic simulation, configuration validation, or lab automation.
- Experience defining quality dashboards, test KPIs, automation coverage, and release quality gates.
