Role Description The Senior Safety Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in West Bengal, India, responsible for driving a robust safety culture across cement manufacturing and construction-related operations. This role oversees the implementation and monitoring of safety policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Daily responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits, as well as reviewing work permits and method statements to identify hazards and mitigation measures. The Senior Safety Engineer will coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions, lead toolbox talks and safety campaigns, and maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting. The role also involves mentoring team members, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with site leadership to uphold best practices in occupational health, safety, and security.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Safety Engineering, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety systems implementation.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health practices, standards, and regulations relevant to industrial and construction environments.
- Experience managing Security aspects of industrial sites, including access control, emergency response coordination, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Proven ability to deliver Training programs on safety procedures, safe work practices, and emergency preparedness to diverse teams.
- Hands-on experience in Construction Safety, particularly in cement plants, building materials, or heavy industrial projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Safety) or a related technical field; advanced safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) are an advantage.
- Familiarity with Indian safety legislation, environmental and regulatory standards, and ISO/OHS management systems.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence operational teams and leadership.
