Senior PowerBuilder Developer Remote

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to design, develop, modernize, and support mission-critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in PowerBuilder, PowerScript, DataWindow, PFC, SQL, relational databases, application architecture, and production support.
The candidate should be capable of independently leading complex development initiatives, troubleshooting critical production issues, making technical and architectural decisions, and mentoring junior developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, enhancement, testing, deployment, and support of PowerBuilder applications.
- Develop advanced solutions using PowerScript, DataWindow, DataStore, PFC, windows, menus, objects, and controls.
- Design and maintain application business logic, user interfaces, reports, validations, and transaction processing.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, and database functions.
- Work with relational databases including SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase.
- Analyze business requirements and create technical designs, architecture, and implementation plans.
- Integrate PowerBuilder applications with APIs, web services, XML/JSON interfaces, batch processes, and external enterprise systems.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve application performance, stability, and reliability.
- Lead PowerBuilder upgrades, application modernization, code refactoring, and legacy-system enhancement initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate unit, integration, regression, performance, security, and UAT activities.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding, security, documentation, and development standards.
- Support release planning, deployment packages, change requests, technical documentation, and production support processes.
- Collaborate with architects, DBAs, QA teams, project managers, business users, and clients.
- Mentor junior developers on PowerBuilder development, database programming, debugging, testing, and deployment.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with significant hands-on PowerBuilder experience.
- Advanced knowledge of PowerBuilder, PowerScript, DataWindow, PFC, and object-oriented development.
- Strong SQL and database development experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, or similar databases.
- Proven experience working on large, complex, business-critical enterprise applications.
- Strong expertise in debugging, performance tuning, application integration, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with source control tools such as Git, SVN, or similar.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, release management, testing, and change-control processes.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, make architecture decisions, and provide technical guidance.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and client-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PowerBuilder upgrades and legacy application modernization.
- Experience integrating PowerBuilder with .NET, Java, REST, SOAP, or cloud-based systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, Agile, and automated deployment practices.
- Experience working with enterprise-scale applications and high-volume databases.
