Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Merchandiser to manage the end-to-end merchandising process for international garment brands, from product development and costing through sampling, order execution and shipment. The role requires strong coordination with buyers, suppliers, internal teams and factories to ensure products are developed and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day communication with buyers and ensure timely responses to queries, comments and approvals.
- Understand buyer requirements, manuals, tech packs, critical paths and brand-specific procedures.
- Follow up on buyer feedback, sample comments, approvals and order confirmations.
- Review samples before submission to the buyer and ensure comments are correctly incorporated.
- Identify potential issues at the development stage and resolve them before bulk production.
- Maintain accurate sample and approval records.
- Follow up on open prices and support the buyer / vendor team in order negotiations.
- Ensure agreed prices are correctly reflected in order confirmations and systems.
- Prepare and monitor TNA/critical path for each order.
- Track key submissions including lab dips, bulk fabric, trims, fit samples, PP/PS, cutting, production, embroidery, finishing and packing.
- Ensure suppliers are working according to agreed ex-factory dates.
- Highlight potential delays at an early stage and agree recovery plans with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate internal trackers and provide regular management updates.
- Ensure buyer and supplier communication is properly documented and decisions are followed through.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing and export merchandising.
- Good understanding of fabrics, trims, garment construction, embellishment and washing.
- Strong costing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent buyer and supplier communication skills.
- Strong follow-up and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple brands, styles and suppliers simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of TNA, critical path and production planning.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks at an early stage.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Experience & Qualification
- From Fashion, Apparel, Textile, Merchandising or a related field.
- 9-10 years of relevant experience in garment merchandising, preferably with an export house or buying house.
- Experience handling international buyers/brands is preferred.
- Experience in woven, jersey, denim and/or embellished garments would be an advantage.
- Candidates with buying-house experience and strong supplier management skills will be preferred.
