Role Description The Senior Electrical Testing Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Thoothukudi. The role involves planning, executing, and supervising electrical testing activities for LT/HT switchgears, transformers, motors, cables, substations, and related equipment. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing test plans and procedures, performing functional and safety tests, analyzing test results, and documenting findings with clear reports. The engineer will troubleshoot issues discovered during testing, recommend corrective actions, and ensure all work complies with relevant standards and client specifications. The role also includes coordinating with project teams, guiding junior engineers or technicians, and supporting commissioning activities to deliver reliable, efficient systems to clients.
Qualifications
- Strong test engineering background, including experience in designing and implementing electrical test plans and strategies.
- Hands-on expertise in test execution and handling test equipment for LT/HT systems, transformers, motors, and related components.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and review detailed test cases and procedures aligned with project and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in electrical testing and functional testing, including performance, protection, and safety validations.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced certifications in testing or power systems are an advantage.
- Solid understanding of relevant electrical standards, codes, and safety practices (e.g., IEC, IEEE, national regulations).
- Experience in industrial or utility projects, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret test data and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Ability to lead on-site testing teams, communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, and manage multiple assignments.
- Willingness to work on-site in Thoothukudi and, when required, at client locations, adhering to safety and quality protocols.
