Job Title: Senior Director of Engineering – E-commerce
Location: Gurgaon (Hybrid)
Experience: 16–20 Years
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering – E-commerce to lead the engineering strategy and execution for a large-scale B2C, consumer-facing e-commerce platform. The role will have end-to-end ownership across backend architecture, e-commerce platforms, consumer technology, and AI/ML capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall backend engineering and architecture across the e-commerce ecosystem.
- Own technology strategy and execution for large-scale B2C and consumer-facing platforms.
- Manage and mentor a large engineering organization of 100+ engineers, including Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
- Drive architecture, scalability, reliability, performance, and engineering excellence.
- Partner closely with Product, Business, Data, and AI/ML teams to build customer-centric solutions.
- Drive the adoption and integration of AI/ML and GenAI capabilities into e-commerce products and platforms.
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams and leadership pipelines.
- Drive engineering best practices across system design, cloud, microservices, APIs, DevOps, security, and observability.
- Translate business and product requirements into scalable technology solutions and long-term engineering roadmaps.
Must-Have Skills
- 16–20 years of overall software engineering experience with strong engineering leadership experience.
- Proven experience leading large-scale B2C / consumer-facing e-commerce platforms.
- Deep expertise in Backend Architecture, Distributed Systems, Microservices, APIs, and scalable platforms.
- Strong understanding of the complete e-commerce technology ecosystem and consumer journey.
- Experience working closely with AI/ML, GenAI, or intelligent product capabilities.
- Proven experience managing 100+ engineers and leading multiple engineering teams through Engineering Managers and senior leaders.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technology strategy with business outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and organizational leadership skills.
