Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Vault Modeler with over 10 years of IT experience to lead and execute a legacy data warehouse migration project to Databricks.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Data Vault 2.0 modeling methodology, hands-on experience in legacy database/data warehouse migration, and strong Databricks ecosystem knowledge. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are mandatory, as this role requires frequent interaction with cross-functional technical teams and key business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Data Vault Modeling & Design: Design, build, and optimize Data Vault 2.0 structures (Hubs, Links, Satellites, Pit tables, and Bridge tables) tailored for high-scale analytical environments.
Legacy DW Migration: Lead the architectural migration from legacy data platforms to modern Databricks Lakehouse architecture.
Databricks Implementation: Build scalable data pipelines and transformation frameworks leveraging Delta Lake, PySpark, and Delta Live Tables (DLT).
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary technical bridge between business analysts, data engineers, and leadership to capture requirements and align technical solutions.
Governance & Best Practices: Enforce data governance, metadata management, and Data Vault standardization across all delivery workstreams.
Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Conduct code/model reviews, ensure data quality standards, and guide engineering teams through migration challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Technical Expertise:
10+ years of total experience in Data Warehousing, Data Architecture, and ETL/ELT pipeline design.
Proven track record as a Data Vault Modeler implementing Data Vault 2.0 concepts on large-scale enterprise projects.
Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, PySpark, and Spark SQL in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Demonstrated experience executing end-to-end Legacy Migration projects to modern cloud platforms.
Advanced proficiency in complex SQL query performance tuning and relational database design.
Soft Skills & Location Requirement:
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to effectively collaborate with global teams and explain technical concepts to business partners.
Nice-to-Have:
Certification in Data Vault 2.0 (CDVP2).
Certified Databricks Data Engineer / Architect.
Experience with CI/CD, dbt (Data Build Tool), or automated Data Vault generation tools (e.g., Wherescape, Coalesce).
