About ShiaanX
ShiaanX is an AI driven Industrial startup building the software and physical infrastructure for the next generation of precision manufacturing. We combine AI-native engineering tools with real factory operations — creating a closed loop between design intent, intelligent process planning, and the physical production of complex parts. The vision is to create a manufacturing system where a part comes in as a CAD model and the system handles everything downstream — quoting, process plan generation, execution tracking, inspection, shipping — with humans in the loop for exceptions only. We are in a High Mix Low Volume (HMLV) business and our Industries include advanced manufacturing sectors viz. Aerospace, Drones, Defence, Medical and Electronics.
The Role
This is not a traditional CNC programmer role. You will produce customer parts on our VMC AND become a key contributor to how our AI-driven Factory OS learns to program parts. Your expertise, judgment, and reasoning will be systematically encoded into a system that eventually programs parts across a network of manufacturing partners.
Concretely, you will spend your time across three areas:
A. Production Programming
• Program precision parts for customer orders on our 3-axis VMC.
• Work primarily with aluminium (6061, 7075) and stainless steel (316) components — manifolds, cooling plates, brackets, housings, structural components.
• Own the full programming workflow from customer drawing to G-code output: feature identification, strategy selection, tool selection, feeds and speeds, post-processing, first-article verification.
• Coordinate directly with our machine operator on setup, tooling, and first-article inspection.
• Optimise cycle times without compromising quality — every minute saved compounds across production volume.
B. AI Training
• Work directly with our software engineering team to encode your programming expertise into Factory OS.
• Review AI-generated process routes, setup sheets, and CAM decisions — correct them, and explain the reasoning behind your corrections in structured form.
• Help design the templates, rules, and decision frameworks that the AI uses to make its suggestions.
• Contribute to the tool library, material library, and machining strategy library that becomes ShiaanX's corpus IP.
• Your corrections and reasoning become training data. Over time, the AI becomes as good as you — and your role evolves toward oversight of a much larger production network.
C. Continuous Improvement and Learning
• Document what works and what does not — systematic knowledge capture, not tribal knowledge.
• Identify patterns across jobs that inform Factory OS improvements.
• Stay current with CAM software developments, cutting tool advancements, and machining strategies.
• Occasional customer interactions to clarify drawing requirements or manufacturing feasibility.
What You Must Bring
Technical Experience -
• 5–7 years of hands-on CNC programming experience on 3-axis VMC machines.
• Strong command of at least one industry CAM software — Mastercam, Siemens NX, Powermill.
• Deep familiarity with Mitsubishi / Siemens controllers and G-code conventions.
• Proven track record of programming aluminium (6061, 7075) and stainless steel (316) precision components.
• Experience with tolerance requirements in the 0.05–0.10 mm range, and surface finish requirements Ra <1.6μm.
• Understanding of GD&T, datum reference frames, and how to translate design intent into manufacturing execution.
• Ability to select cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding strategies for HMLV precision work.
What Would Set You Apart
• Prior experience with CAM softwares and Controller data knowledge
• Experience programming for aerospace, defence, or medical device precision components.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems in a machining context.
• Experience with in-process probing (Renishaw or equivalent) and macro programming.
• Exposure to CMM inspection workflows and QIF or similar structured inspection data.
