Role Description The Senior Civil Engineer will oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil works for educational campuses and related infrastructure, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with applicable standards. This full-time, on-site role is based in Chennai and involves coordinating with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and developing civil engineering designs, preparing project plans and estimates, managing stormwater and drainage systems, and supervising construction activities. The Senior Civil Engineer will also conduct site inspections, monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure adherence to regulatory and environmental requirements. In addition, the role includes mentoring junior engineers, maintaining documentation, and supporting long-term infrastructure planning for the trust.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in civil engineering, including Civil Engineering Design and core Civil Engineering principles.
- Experience leading teams of Civil Engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Planning and project management for building and campus infrastructure works.
- Knowledge of Stormwater Management, drainage design, and related environmental and safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional experience in building, institutional, or campus development projects, preferably at a senior level.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and codes; familiarity with industry-standard design and drafting software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and quality.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate on-site and manage contractors and vendors.
- Commitment to ethical practices, safety compliance, and continuous professional development.
