Role Description The Senior Associate Veterinarian will provide high-quality medical, surgical, and preventative care to companion animals in a busy clinical environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing routine and advanced procedures, prescribing medications, and advising pet caregivers on wellness, nutrition, and preventive care. The role involves collaborating closely with veterinary nurses, junior veterinarians, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate medical records, and a positive client experience. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, requiring active participation in clinical operations, case discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Associate Veterinarian may also mentor junior team members, contribute to protocol development, and support outreach or client education activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Veterinary clinical expertise, including strong skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, and routine surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in small animal medicine, preventive healthcare, and evidence-based veterinary practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and use veterinary practice management or electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent communication and client education skills, with the ability to explain medical conditions and treatment options clearly.
- Collaborative mindset, with experience working in multidisciplinary veterinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, with valid registration or eligibility to practice veterinary medicine in India.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Commitment to animal welfare, professional ethics, and ongoing professional development through continued learning.
- Experience in high-volume small animal practice or specialty practice in an urban setting is an advantage.
