Role Description The Senior Veterinary Physician will provide high-quality clinical care to companion animals, including conducting consultations, performing diagnostic evaluations, recommending treatment plans, and carrying out routine and advanced procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing outpatient and inpatient cases, supervising junior veterinary staff, collaborating with technicians and support teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and ethical standards. The role involves communicating clearly with pet caregivers, maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating follow-ups, and contributing to preventive care initiatives and client education. The Senior Veterinary Physician will also support practice development through participation in case discussions, quality improvement activities, and collaboration with VetXplore’s broader network of veterinary partners. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical expertise in small animal medicine and surgery, including diagnostics, treatment planning, and case management.
- Proficiency in using veterinary diagnostic tools and equipment (e.g., imaging, laboratory tests) and interpreting results accurately.
- Solid knowledge of preventive healthcare, vaccination protocols, nutrition, and client education for companion animals.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building trust with pet caregivers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise junior veterinarians, interns, and veterinary support staff.
- Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills for maintaining comprehensive, compliant medical documentation.
- Commitment to animal welfare, ethical clinical practice, and continuous professional development.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree with valid registration/license to practice; several years of post-qualification clinical experience in a busy small animal practice or hospital preferred.
- Experience in or openness to working with digitally enabled practice management and tele-consultation tools is beneficial.
- Comfort working on-site in Bengaluru, with flexibility for rotational shifts, weekends, and emergency duties as required.
