Role - Senior Architect II- Retail PoS
About this team
This team is responsible for creating APIs and backend integration following microservices architecture principals on AWS cloud infrastructure stack. This Solution Architect position is a highly technical role with accountability for architecture scoped to business-transformative projects and is involved with projects from inception through implementation.

A day in the life:
As a Solution Architect, you will interface with key stakeholders and apply your technical proficiency across different stages of the Project Life Cycle including Requirements Elicitation, Application Architecture definition, Design and Development. You will ensure that the backend integrations are well designed using best practices to meet the scalability and reliability for growing global commerce business. The Architect partners with delivery teams to architect, design, and build flexible, scalable, and resilient applications and services that can more easily adapt to future business needs.
- Provide strategic guidance to multiple teams to ensure systems are high-performing, reliable, and sustainable.
- Lead solution architecture aligned with enterprise standards, using reusable frameworks and components.
- Ensure end-to-end system design meets both business and technical needs.
- Translate conceptual ideas into detailed, implementable designs.
- Support system implementation, including development and configuration.
- Maintain architecture documentation, including current and future-state models.
- Assist with effort estimation for development and QA, ensuring clarity and best practices.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to define and refine technical requirements.
- Participate in technology reviews, audits, and help design operational support plans.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies; build proof-of-concepts to test new ideas.
- Promote shared vision and practices across teams for consistency.
- Mentor team members build scalable and high-performance solutions.
- Conduct research to support product development and tool selection
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science with 13-15 years relevant POS experience.
- Proven 4+ years of experience in architecting systems with strong end-to-end system understanding and integration expertise.
- 8+ years of Oracle Retail POS Suite (Xstore, Xenvironment, Xadmin, Xcenter, and XServices), OpChain Framework, and Oracle Database
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in Core Java (J2SE) and Advanced Java (J2EE).
- 4+ years of experience in front-end development using Node.js, React.js, Angular or others.
- 2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, others).
- 3+ years of experience designing and managing any cloud solutions including container services, serverless architecture, high availability and infrastructure (preferred AWS solutions)
- Experience with microservices and event/message-driven distributed systems
- Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
- Good to have strong grasp of programming and integration concepts, event-driven and messaging architectures (pub/sub, queuing), with hands-on experience designing resilient, fault-tolerant solutions in cloud-native environments.
- Basic experience with monitoring and APM tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or others
- Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding engineering teams
- Experience with Retail domain, Retail systems architecture and mobile technologies is preferred
- Must be capable of providing leadership for junior and senior software engineers alike, understands how to leverage and enhance their current skills
