Role Description The Senior Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Kolkata Area. The individual in this role will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements. Responsibilities include overseeing month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and tax regulations, and coordinating with internal and external auditors. The Senior Accountant will support budgeting and forecasting activities, perform variance analysis, and provide financial insights to management for decision-making. This role also involves improving internal controls, supervising junior accounting staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate financial records and support business growth.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in financial accounting and reporting, including general ledger management and preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Proficiency in taxation and regulatory compliance, such as GST, TDS, corporate tax, and statutory filings relevant to the Indian food and FMCG sector.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, including variance analysis and cost control in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems SAP B1, along with strong Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, and to collaborate effectively with operations, sales, and procurement teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to accuracy and maintaining robust internal controls.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; professional certifications such as CA, CMA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Prior experience of minimum 8-10 years in accounts
