Company Description Codeyoung provides interactive coding courses for learners aged 5 to 17, focusing on a hands-on curriculum with clear, progressive learning goals. The organization emphasizes practical application of concepts so learners can build real projects and gain confidence in technology. Sessions are designed to be highly engaging and student-centric, encouraging questions, exploration, and creativity rather than traditional lecture-style teaching. Codeyoung values mentors who can support this active learning environment and help young learners develop strong foundational skills in both academics and coding.
Role Description The SAT MATHS/ENGLISH Mentor is responsible for delivering high-quality, online instruction to school-age learners preparing for the SAT, with a focus on building strong math and English fundamentals. Day-to-day tasks include planning and conducting interactive live classes, explaining concepts clearly, guiding students through practice questions, providing constructive feedback, and tracking individual progress. The mentor will also adapt teaching strategies to different learning styles, maintain a supportive and encouraging classroom environment, and collaborate with the academic team to improve course content and learning outcomes. This is a full-time remote role, requiring consistent availability, reliable online presence, and proactive communication with learners and internal teams.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of SAT Mathematics content areas (algebra, problem solving and data analysis, advanced math) and SAT English/Reading and Writing (grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension).
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring school-age learners, ideally in test preparation or academic support.
- Excellent communication and explanation skills, with the ability to break down complex concepts into clear, age-appropriate language.
- Comfort with online teaching tools, digital whiteboards, learning platforms, and remote classroom management.
- Ability to design or adapt lesson plans, practice questions, and activities to support interactive, student-centric learning.
- Strong organizational skills and reliability in maintaining schedules, documenting progress, and meeting performance expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field is preferred; relevant teaching or tutoring certifications are a plus.
- Prior experience working with children and teenagers, with a patient, inclusive, and non-judgmental mentoring style.
